Deputy Education Minister-Designate, Dr. Clement Apaak, has averred that textbooks should not be entirely replaced by technology.
The nominee who represents the Builsa South constituency was of the view that textbooks provide a tactile experience that is essential for learning.
He opined that textbooks also offer a structured approach to learning that is often lacking in digital materials.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, indicated that the role of technology in education is significant, given the increasing interest in digital learning platforms.
He was, however, quick to say that while technology has the potential to enhance learning, it should be used to supplement traditional teaching methods, rather than replace them entirely.
“It’s not a question of either-or, but rather how we can use technology to support and enhance the learning experience while still maintaining the benefits of traditional textbooks,” Dr. Apaak added.
