The Deputy Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Suhuyini, has emphasised the need for increased collaboration between the government and private entities to accelerate road construction across the country.
The nominee proposed this when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
It will be beneficial if the government explore alternative funding models to reduce road construction costs and address the country’s infrastructure gap, he stated.
He stressed that public-private partnerships (PPP) will be a great approach to tackling Ghana’s road deficit and ensuring timely road development.
“Roads to those properties remain undone and that is why there is the need to broaden those conversations around how to work together to fund road construction in this country. If you took notice of the reference to public roads as it was used in the Act perhaps there is an indication that we can have private roads.
“If that conversation is had with all stakeholders involved, we will be able to do more roads than we are currently doing, only depending on Government of Ghana (GOG) Funding”
