The 21-year-old student who was arrested in connection with the level 400 female student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been remanded in police custody.
Samuel Tuffour was arrested in connection with the death of the Biomedical Science student Joana Deladem Yabani.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday, February 27, 2025, after the female student was found dead.
Tuffuor was arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, where prosecutors requested that he be remanded to allow for further investigations into the case.
The court granted the request, and the suspect is set to reappear on March 17, 2025.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that the student was pronounced dead today, February 27, 2025, by the KNUST Hospital.
The police stated that the body was examined at the scene before being transported to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
According to the police, examination of the body revealed signs of violence.
