Member of Parliament for Assin Central Nurein Shaibu Migyimah says the current minority in Parliament wants to be relevant and so is engaging in all manner of political games against the President Dramani Mahama’s government, which is not even two months in office.
He stated that if anyone was to criticise the current government, it should not be the minority because Ghanaians saw the level of mismanagement and economic hardship they brought to the nation.
He asserted that the previous government, led by former President Akufo-Addo, ruled Ghana as if it were a monarchy.
The MP was responding to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
To him, the president presented the SONA, which reflected the mess created by the previous government with a high standard of living and extreme hardship.
Nurein Shaibu Migyimah:’We were all in this country and saw the terrible leadership of former President Akufo-Addo. He ruled like a monarch, although Ghana is a democratic country. The NPP left Ghana in a terrible economic state. We all saw the mess they created. We have also seen where we are today. President Mahama has inspired hope with his SONA. He has pledged to transform the country and restore hope. Sometimes when the minority makes noise, you have to pardon them because they just want to be heard and appear relevant.
Empty barrels make the most noise. They can continue to make the noise, but we are hopeful President Mahama’s pledge to reset the country will be achieved. President Mahama will reset Ghana and help transform the country. It is true that the NPP under Akufo-Addo destroyed and left the economy in distress, but we trust President.”
He assured Ghanaians that the 24-hour economy and big push would help transform the economy and create more jobs, so they should trust the government to keep his promises.
