Rev. Dr. Kweku Addo, the Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West constituency in the Greater Accra region, says the strategy used by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) contributed to its victory.
He commended Defence Minister Dr. Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections, and his team for the quality of training and deployment of dedicated agents for the elections.
He asserted that although some party people had raised opposition to the approach used in the recruitment of agents, it paid off so well that the party won the elections in an unprecedented manner.
Appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Rev. Addo indicated that ‘’generally the NDC had a very good plan. Our plan was safeguarding our votes just as was promised by President John Dramani Mahama. The level of vigilance was high. At the collation centres, our agents were under siege because they made sure all forms of schemes aimed at rigging the elections were stopped. We were extremely vigilant and made sure all forms of rigging attempts were stopped.
I must commend our election director then, now Minister for Defence. The training they gave our agents and the criteria used in their training were top-notch. The requirement for only degree holders to be used as agents was opposed, but it paid off. Now we have seen the sense in it. It would not be proper to appoint agents who cannot even write one thousand one hundred all in the name of being party loyalists. The deployment of lawyers was also good. This time, we got it right.’’
