The minority in Parliament has demanded that the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Dr. Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, be summoned before the plenary to provide an update on the total number of individuals affected by the mass revocation of recruitments and appointments to the state-owned agencies.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin specifically asked the minister to address the processes of verifying and validating those affected and the steps being taken to address any excesses or negative consequences of the termination directive.
He said the minister should be invited to come to the House and apprise them on the total number of those affected, especially when there are state-owned agencies that had also taken that step to terminate appointments.
This is not the first time the Minority has raised concerns over the decision by the government to revoke appointments.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, March 3, 2025, former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam described President John Dramani Mahama as ‘Terminator 1.’
“The termination of the jobs of young Ghanaians, which has become synonymous with President Mahama as ‘Terminator 1,’ is a sign of what is yet to come. Sacking people from employment and replacing them later with others does not amount to job creation. What the people of Ghana want are new jobs for those yet to be employed,” Dr. Adam added.
