A security analyst, Mr. Andrews Asiedu Tetteh, has advised President John Dramani Mahama to treat the presidency with decency and respect.
He wants the president to avoid making his presidency about family and friends to avoid controversy or scandal.
The analyst was reacting to a video of Ibrahim Mahama, the president’s brother, driving him in the Volta Region.
He deemed the situation a serious security breach, risking the president’s life.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, he emphasised that the presidency is serious business, not a family or friend affair.
He argued that professionally trained drivers should have driven the president instead of his brother.
Mr. Tetteh noted that the president’s brother is not a trained professional, and the presidency’s official duty should not be taken for granted. He added that the incident was a breach of security and the constitution and should never occur again.
“He should distance his family from the presidency. He should distance Ibrahim Mahama from the presidency. If he (Mahama) wants to give him (Ibrahim) some business to do, that is fine, but for the presidency and its running, nobody voted for Ibrahim Mahama and lacks the capacity to perform any official duties. We urge the president to treat the presidency with dignity and avoid dragging it through the mud.”
