The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency, Ida Adwoa Asiedu, has passionately highlighted the persistent challenges women and girls face, including gender-based violence, unequal economic opportunities, and limited leadership representation.
Contributing on the floor of Parliament on a statement on International Women’s Day, she stated that notwithstanding the progress achieved, it is evident that more efforts are necessary to guarantee equal access to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
To accelerate efforts towards gender equality, she said it is crucial to strengthen policies promoting female leadership and encourage more women to take on leadership roles, fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity.
The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano called for the need to promote environments where everyone feels valued and heard, regardless of gender or background.
As we mark International Women’s Day 2025, she said we need to reaffirm our commitment to making gender equality a reality, not just an aspiration. We must work together to dismantle systemic barriers, challenge outdated norms, and create a world where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.
