The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Madam Linda Ocloo, has warned persons with unauthorised structures at the Ramsar site to advise themselves.
The demolition exercise, she noted, will continue without compromise. She cautioned those who want to bribe officials by putting money in envelopes to rethink their options.
Madam Ocloo said such acts will not be tolerated, and those involved will be severely sanctioned.
She was speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM. During the interview, the minister disclosed that the structures demolished were constructed illegally and without permits.
She said notice was served on all those with structures at the site, so nobody can claim they were not informed.
According to the minister, the encroachers disregarded several cautions to stay away from the site.
She indicated that the exercise will continue, saying, “We will not compromise our work. We will continue to work, complete our work, and reclaim all sites for the government. Nobody will be compromised. Those who think they can put money in an envelope and hand it over to officials must desist from doing that. To those still putting up structures on the site, be guided.
Those with illegal structures on the site should advise themselves because when we get hold of you, we will show you no mercy or compromise our duties. Let me repeat that we are not compromising, so nobody should put money in any envelope. We are working for the government. We have no problem with those who have legal structures and are permitted to build.”
