President John Dramani Mahama has caused a major shake-up in the top positions at the Ghana Armed Forces.
He has appointed five new persons to head the various commands of the Ghana Armed Forces in an acting capacity.
A statement issued and signed by Felix Ofosu Kwakye, Minister of Government Communications, said these new heads will act pending consultation with the Council of State.
The appointments, the statement said, will take effect on March 24, 2025.
The President appointed Brigadier William Agyapong as Acting Chief of Defence Staff. Brigadier General Lawrence Kweku Gbetabu has been appointed Acting Chief of Army Staff, while Commodore Godwin Livinus Bessing is the new Acting Chief of Naval Staff.
Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong is the Acting Chief of Air Staff, with Brigadier General Glover Asking Annan appointed Acting Chief of Staff.
Meanwhile, the President met with the outgoing heads of the various security agencies and extended gratitude to them for their services to mother Ghana.
