Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has appointed DCOP/Ms Lydia Yaako Donkor as the Director-General, Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Her appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, as part of a major shake-up in the security institution’s national leadership.
The latest reshuffle is coming less than a week since the IGP took office after replacing Dr George Akuffo Dampare.
She is a law enforcement officer with over 20 years of experience. She joined the Ghana Police Service as a lawyer and holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Leeds and a qualifying degree from the Ghana School of Law.
The old girl of Wesley Girls High School, Cape Coast, also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in law and political science from the University of Ghana, Legon.
She worked the Director General of the Police Professional Standards Bureau, Ghana Police National Headquarters, Accra.
In February this year, DCOP Lydia Donkor was appointed as the chairperson of the Security Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
DCOP Donkor serves as the chairperson for the Police Ladies Football Club and is a lawyer with 24 years of experience.
