The minority in Parliament has accused the operatives of the National Security who raided the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Ernest Addison on Wednesday, March 19, of stealing valuables, including cash and jewellery.
Leader of the caucus Alexander Afenyo-Markin is claiming that the operatives, led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, took away an undisclosed amount of cedis from Dr Addison’s bedroom.
Addressing journalists, the Effutu MP said that the operatives also stole earrings and necklaces belonging to Dr Addison’s wife.
“Some GHC10,000 on his bed could not be found. So some of these hungry party foot soldiers they use who parade themselves as national security operatives are, after all, perhaps not being paid, and they use this opportunity to steal.
“The governor’s wife’s earrings and necklaces were also not traced. They couldn’t be found. In other words, those operatives stole these earrings and necklaces. Ghana is a mature democracy, and we should do better.”
Armed men numbering about 20 and led by Richard Jakpa reportedly raided the private residence of the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
The raid occurred at the Roman Ridge property in Accra. Dr Addison was at home when the heavily armed men, wielding AK-47 semi-automatic rifles, showed up to conduct a search.
