President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan as the Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
Until his appointment, Brigadier General Annan served as the presidential security coordinator.
President Mahama expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioner, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo, for his dedicated service to the Customs Division and the nation.
The appointment was announced on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
The respected military officer is expected to bring new leadership to the Customs Division, in line with the President’s resetting agenda.
In a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the spokesperson to the president and minister of government communications, the president expressed confidence in Brigadier General Annan’s ability to steer the division towards efficiency as the government works to fix the economy.
It remains unclear why this latest appointment was made since the military officer was recently appointed Acting Chief of Staff for the Ghana Armed Forces.
No reasons have been assigned for this latest development.
