Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Dominic Ayine says former President Akufo-Addo’s leadership turned this country into a crime scene.
He said for eight years, Ghana was turned into a crime scene, and authorities are currently uncovering the crimes that were committed.
The minister stated this when he updated journalists on investigations conducted into some corruption and corruption-related offences.
He used the opportunity to warn public officials currently working under this administration that he would come after them should they engage in corruption.
Mr Ayine said he would not wait because he has President Mahama’s authority to prosecute every state official.
Dr Dominic Ayine noted that former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu Boahen, should still be in detention, but his wife can be released on bail.
He said the arrest of Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former director-general of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), was in connection with his alleged involvement in financial misconduct relating to a $7 million cyber defence system contract.
The minister said that the contract was valued at $7 million and was intended to bolster Ghana’s capacity to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats, data breaches, and digital espionage.
However, investigations suggest that funds allocated for the project were diverted for personal use, the minister revealed.
