Parliament has approved the budgetary allocation of GHS 1.2 billion for the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition for the 2025 fiscal year.
The House approved the budget on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
The allocation will facilitate the ministry’s implementation of key initiatives aimed at enhancing electricity distribution and advancing Ghana’s transition to renewable energy.
The Ministry is also set to procure and install one million smart meters in its operational areas under the Programme for Results policy.
Aside from these initiatives, the ministry is slated to start the Accra-Kumasi transmission line project, which is projected to increase power supply dependability between the two major cities.
As part of efforts to promote clean and sustainable energy solutions, the Ministry will also implement the Government Goes Solar project.
