President John Dramani Mahama is currently consulting with the Council of State over some petitions submitted by different individuals seeking to have the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkonoo, removed from office.
Acting in accordance with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, the President has forwarded the petitions to the Council of State to begin the mandated consultation process.
This was contained in a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
According to the statement, the President remains committed to following constitutional procedures in dealing with the matter.
