Four persons have been confirmed dead in an accident that occurred on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway near the Fire Academy and Training School (FATS).
The accident which occurred on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, involved a commercial KIA truck (GT 5335-19) and a Toyota RAV4 (AS 4365-20).
The Ahafo Regional Fire Service confirmed the accident, detailing that it received a call to attend to the situation.
According to the service, upon reaching the scene, the team found seven (7) victims, with four (4) trapped—three (3) in the RAV4 and one (1) in the KIA truck.
They were then joined by the Duayaw-Nkwanta Fire Service, and after an intense rescue effort, 4 motionless bodies were retrieved from the wreckage.
The remaining three the GNFS disclosed were rescued and transported to Saint John’s of God Hospital and Bechem Government Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, the GNFS added.
