Nana Effah Opinamanh III, Kwahu Obomeng Hene, has refuted claims that the area is unstable, making it difficult for this year’s Easter celebration to gain the popularity it had endured over the years.
He stated that any assertion of insecurity in the area is false; hence, the Ghanaian public should ignore them.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he cautioned the person making such unfounded claims to stop, or the traditional leaders will be forced to take action against them.
‘’It is unfortunate that some individuals are making these unfounded claims. The individuals who make these claims don’t even reside in Kwahu, which makes their assertions false. That has been the case for years. Anytime Easter approaches, you have people making false claims about the celebration. Just last year, some people went on to make claims that a dragon had taken over the area. I want to assure Ghanaians that Kwahu is peaceful. There is no instability as alleged by some people.’’
He said the National Security is monitoring and providing security in Kwahu.
‘’I want to appeal to Ghanaians that they should ignore false information and prepare to come to Kwahu during the Easter celebration. As leaders, we have decided to take action against these false claims. To journalists, I want to caution them to desist from making false claims about Kwahu. They should always verify their information before they disseminate it. Misinformation and false news can create tension and chaos, and so they should always verify their information before circulation.’’
