The Accra High Court has reviewed the bail condition for Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former director-general of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), from GHS120 million to GHS80 million.
His wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, however, continues to face bail set at GHS80 million, with two sureties required to be justified.
The two suspects are required to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) three times a week as part of their bail conditions.
The two have also been restricted from travelling and can only do so under the express permission of EOCO.
They were arrested last week in connection with alleged involvement in the embezzlement of state funds.
Lawyers for the two went to court praying that the GH¢120 million bail demand for Adu-Boahene and GH¢80 million for his wife were not only excessive but also appeared designed to circumvent constitutional detention limits.
The lawyers, led by Samuel Atta Akyea Esq, on Friday, March 28, 2025, appealed to the court to review the bail conditions downwards.
Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem Sai, on his part, told the court that he argued the two were flight risks, as they’re investigating a possible possession of foreign passports aside from their Ghanaian passports.
He also disclosed that the wife of Kwabena Adu-Boahene attempted to destroy evidence by carting suspected currency bills into suitcases on the night she was notified of the arrest of her husband.
