Parliament has passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill.
The passage of the bill allows the government to spend GHC293 billion from the consolidated fund and other public funds for the 2025 financial year.
The bill represents the total estimated expenditure for the government in 2025.
An amount of GHC 68 billion has been allocated for wages and salaries, while GHC 13 billion is for the payment of arrears.
First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor said, “Hon. members, the Appropriation 2025 is now read the third time and accordingly passed.”
Meanwhile, the House has also passed the Gold Board Bill.
The Bill establishes the Gold Board to regulate the gold industry, enhance transparency and traceability, and boost foreign exchange earnings.
The Gold Board will oversee the purchase, sale, and export of gold, generating revenue to stabilise the cedi.
