A young lady identified as Asante Rose, a student of the Koforidua Technical University, has died following a gas explosion at Oyoko, a suburb in the New Juaben North Municipality.
She was rushed to the hospital after the incident but unfortunately died.
A young boy and a lady are also battling for their lives at the Eastern Regional Hospital following severe burns sustained from the gas explosion.
Details emerging indicate that a gas leak was identified in the kitchen, and Rose, who wanted to locate the exact source of the leak, unfortunately lighted a match, leading to the explosion.
The explosion also injured Rose’s younger brother and their neighbour, who were all taken to Koforidua Central Hospital, where Rose later died.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were dispatched to contain the situation while also assisting police investigations.
