Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has outlined plans to launch the National Integrity Awards with the objective to recognise and honour citizens who demonstrate exceptional commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and nation-building.
According to the speaker, the scheme will reward individuals who demonstrate ethical behaviour, professionalism, and the highest degree of integrity in their respective fields.
He disclosed this on Saturday, March 29, 2025, when parliamentarians met to evaluate their performance after the First Meeting and First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic in Accra.
Speaker Bagbin said a committee comprising representatives from the clergy, academia, political groups, and civil society organisations would be formed to assess and evaluate individuals for recognition.
“The National Integrity Award scheme is a crucial step in promoting integrity in the country by recognising and honouring individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and the fight against corruption.
“By this initiative, we aim to inspire a national movement where integrity is not only expected but desired and rewarded,” Speaker `Bagbin stated.
“Apart from the National Integrity Award that will be given to men and women of integrity, there will also be what is termed the Vulture Award, which will be bestowed upon individuals considered to have the lowest levels of integrity in the country.”
