Energy and Green Transition Minister John Jinapor has asked the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, to prosecute those implicated in the missing ECG containers case.
The minister, in providing an update on the matter, stated that his ministry has written to the Attorney General to conduct further investigation with the possibility of prosecuting those involved.
He disclosed that he has also written officially to the National Security Secretariat to help them secure the remaining containers.
Mr Jinapor was responding to questions from journalists when the committee he established to work on the possibility of privatisation of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) submitted its report on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
“We’ve written to the Attorney General to conduct further investigation with the possibility of taking culprits to court. We’ve also written to NIB to institute proper and forensic investigation to determine the whereabouts of the containers. But I have also personally written to the National Security Secretariat to help us secure the remaining containers so that we can do a proper reconciliation of the containers because some containers are still stuck there. We need to secure them so that we can put them to good use while we pursue those that cannot be accounted for.”
