The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested eleven (11) suspects in connection with illegal mining activities popularly known as galamsey.
The suspects were arrested at Fischer near Bunsu.

The suspects, which include nine (9) Ghanaians and two (2) Burkinabes, were arrested on April 2, 2025, following a complaint received regarding their involvement in illegal mining activities.
The suspects have been identified as Kwaku Owusu, 42 years; Philip Tetteh, 52 years; Abdul Raham (27 years), Philip Duvor (40 years), Joseph Asare (32 years), Charles Manu (35 years), Joseph Araboga (32 years), Daniel Bangah (20 years), and Amoaho Isaac (25 years ago) are all Ghanaians.

The rest are Jey Done, 40 years old, a Burkinabe, and Adomah Bouba, 25 years old, also a Burkinabe.
The police also recovered one excavator, which has since been impounded.

In a statement issued by Assistant Superintendent of Police Foster Owusu, staff officer for the region, the police announced that
All the suspects are in police custody being processed to face justice.
“We would like to assure the general public, especially the communities within the
Eastern South Regional Police Command, that the Ghana Police Service remains resolute in fighting crime and maintaining law and order in the country,” the statement assured.
