Security analyst Andrews Asiedu Tetteh has called for a thorough investigation into the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers.
He suggested a broad investigation into the saga to reveal all the indicia of who contributed to the incident.
For him, the clearing agents, former appointees of the previous government, those who held positions with direct involvement with activities of the ECG, current workers, police officers and other stakeholders in the value chain.
The missing containers, he said, will turn into one of the biggest security discoveries in Ghana’s history.
Mr Andrews Tetteh believes the investigation of the missing containers must be operated from the office of the Inspector General of Police “so that the IGP will focus on the investigation. What happened was orchestrated by a cartel involving senior government officials, security personnel and other workers. So we need to take our time and investigate the matter.
Ghanaians would have to mount pressure on the government so that we will get to the bottom of this unfortunate incident. It is a serious matter, and we should not joke with it. The IGP should be interested in this matter,” he said on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.
He added that if there was the need for a committee to be formed to investigate the matter, it should be core security analysts and forensic experts to investigate the matter.
He emphasised that “The missing containers were orchestrated by a cartel, and thus we must conduct a thorough investigation. We need to prosecute all those involved to serve as a deterrent for others. We can also use this as a guiding principle to prevent future occurrences.”
