The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the illegal possession and discharge of firearms during a funeral celebration.
The arrest of the suspects comes after a video in which several young persons were seen brandishing guns at a funeral.
Social media users called for the arrest of these individuals since their actions breached the laws of Ghana.

The Western North Police Intelligence Department, with support from personnel of the Formed Police Unit, on April 2, 2025, successfully apprehended the two suspects.
They have been identified as Frank Afoko, aged 41, and Kojo Agyapong, aged 31.
“The arrests were made following investigations into an incident on March 14, 2025, at Atakrom, near Bibiani, where individuals were captured in a video which went viral on various social media platforms, a statement issued by the police announced.

According to the police, the suspects, together with others now at large, were seen openly discharging firearms without lawful authority during a funeral event.
The police stated that the suspects have been interrogated by the regional investigation team led by the crime officer, and they admitted to being the individuals featured in the video footage.
“Both suspects have since been detained to assist with further investigations. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved in the incident who remain at large.
The Western North Regional Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring safety and security in the region. The Command urges the public to report any information that could assist in the arrest of the remaining suspects,” the statement issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police Michael Nkekesi, Head, Public Affairs Unit in the region, added.
