A communication team member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Owusu, has advised the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, to thoroughly investigate the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers.
He lamented that the containers are not birds, nor do they have wings to fly, and some individuals may have contributed to the containers being moved.
The NPP communicator believes that all those involved in the missing container saga should be fished and prosecuted for their crimes.
Nana Owusu, speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, stated that the cost of each container multiplied by the over 1,300 missing containers is a major concern that should be investigated.
‘’ The containers are not birds or angels with wings that can fly from the ports. This is an organised crime orchestrated by evil-minded individuals. It was planned and executed by criminal minds. It is senseless to say the containers have gone missing when some wicked-minded personalities executed this crime for their selfish interests. We must identify and prosecute them. I am confident that John Jinapor can get to the bottom of this. However, if he fails to address this issue and ensure that those involved are prosecuted and punished, I would be disappointed in him.
I am also appealing to President Mahama to deal with the matter and have those involved punished. The cost of the containers is vast, so we don’t have a joke with this matter. Nobody involved must go free. It does not matter who is involved. Whether they are NPP or NDC, they must be fished out and punished.’’
