The auditor-general says it has started a comprehensive nationwide payroll audit.
The audit will target all entities on the Controller and Accountant General’s payroll system, including subvented organisations, a statement issued by the Auditor General announced.
According to the statement, the audit will examine the payroll records of ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), and subvented bodies for the period spanning January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024.
A full headcount of all government-paid staff will be conducted, the statement said.
All affected institutions have been urged to grant auditors full and unrestricted access to all relevant records.
“The Office of the Auditor-General calls on all institutions to provide unhindered access to books, returns, and other documents, including computerised and electronic records, to ensure the audit is completed smoothly and within schedule,” the statement added.
