The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has advised drivers to be extra cautious on the roads this Easter season to avoid crashes.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the GPRTU Abass Imoro stated that drivers are to avoid reckless driving to prevent crashes.
He noted that it is important to maintain discipline and adhere to the traffic regulations.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he indicated adhering to the road signs and other regulations will prevent accidents.
‘’Drivers must respect and adhere to the road signs. They should avoid speeding, reckless driving, and other road traffic breaches. ‘As a driver, you should regularly go for maintenance of your vehicles so it will reduce road crashes,’ he said.
He also advised drivers not to charge passengers unapproved fares since that will amount to cheating.
Abass Imoro advised the Ghanaian public to report any such drivers to the police so they would be arrested.
‘’We encourage passengers to report drivers who charge unapproved fares to the nearest police station. Drivers should not take advantage of Easter and charge unapproved fares since that amounts to cheating. ‘So report any such incidents to the police,’ he said.
