The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect seen in a viral video assaulting another person with a machete.
The video went viral on social media, with social media users calling on the police to fish out the attacker and arrest him.
The suspect, identified as Dawuda Sumaila, was arrested on April 9th, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation, the police said in a statement.
He has been accused of physically attacking a young man with a machete near a fuel tanker.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 4th, 2025, at Anyinam in the Eastern Region.
The suspect, a driver’s mate, is currently in police custody, where he is assisting with ongoing investigations into the matter.
Meanwhile, the Police Service has assured the public that they are handling the case with urgency and that further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
