The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with an ongoing vehicle theft syndicate.
According to a police statement, the suspect, an unemployed man, has been identified as Nana Anderson, also known as Anderson Nana Abeka and Essel Kofi Elvis and Willson Kojo Bismark.
He was arrested on April 5, 2025, in a hideout at Atasemanso, a suburb in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.
A second suspect in connection with the case by the name of Gideon Baah is currently at large.
An investigation conducted by the police has revealed that on March 5, 2025, the accused contacted a car rental partner of the complainant and fraudulently rented a Hyundai Elantra with registration number GT 114-25.
Nana Anderson, using forged ECOWAS identity and driver’s license cards bearing different names but with his photograph, deceived the witness into handing over the vehicle at Community 25. The accused later failed to return the vehicle and disabled its tracking system, raising suspicion, the police stated.
