The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has paid GH₵834 million to various healthcare providers across the country.
The payments are claims submitted and vetted to date, the Ag. Chief Executive Dr Victor Asare Bampoe has announced.
The GH₵834 million includes all outstanding arrears and current claims vetted and approved.
Speaking to journalists in Accra on Monday, April 14, 2025, the Chief Executive said the payment fulfils NHIA’s mandate as a payer of healthcare services in Ghana for disease conditions, as prescribed in the NHIS Benefit Package, which covers over 95 per cent of disease conditions.
“Over the past week alone, the NHIA paid GH₵555 million, clearing all vetted claims in the system. However, there are still pending payments amounting to around GH₵30-40 million, which are being processed.
All the claims have been paid, and I think the private providers were concerned due to some delays. However, these were processing delays that held us back a bit,” he added.
He assured that the NHIA remains committed to delivering high-quality healthcare services to its members, ensuring the NHIS remains on track by settling vetted claims within the accepted 90-day window.
