The Ghana Police Service has placed a ban on the movement of its personnel to Bawku and its environs.
A police wireless message issued by the police stated that officers and their families have become targets of unknown persons in Bawku and its surrounding areas.
The wireless message announced that officers deployed on OPS duties in these areas should ensure they put on appropriate personal protective equipment and are under armoured escort.
According to the message, Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has since directed an immediate ban on personnel travelling to Bawku.
“Movements of personnel, both indigene and non-indigenes, including their families in Pusiga and Binduri, are banned,” the wireless message noted.
“By this directive, Garu can also be dangerous, so all should take note and comply.”
