The National Service Authority (NSA) plans to implement a short military training program for National Service Personnel (NSPs) as part of the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP).
The initiative, according to the NSA, will commence on August 3, 2025.
The training is expected to take two months and will equip service personnel with basic military drills and orientation.
According to the authority, the training programme aims to instil discipline, nationalism, and physical fitness among Ghanaian graduates.
The initiative was announced at a meeting between the NSA and the Military High Command on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Speaking at the meeting, NSA Director-General Felix Gyamfi stated that the move is in line with a directive from President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment he made during his maiden State of the Nation Address in Parliament on February 27, 2025.
“The introduction of this military training is a step in the right direction and must be embraced by all as one of the indicators for resetting the country, particularly the youth,” he said.
On his part, Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, representing the Ghana Armed Forces, said they were prepared to give the NSA full support when the training begins.
