Golden Age of Ghana Tourism initiates clean-up awareness at tourism destinations

The Golden Age of Ghana Tourism has underscored the need for authorities to properly maintain Ghana’s tourism destinations.

The group says several destination places across the country are not properly managed, with filth and overgrown grass taking over them.

Manajah Nii Tetteh Nixon is therefore appealing to authorities to initiate measures that will help clean these destinations to easily attract tourists.

He disclosed this when his group rolled out a clean-up awareness exercise at the precinct of the independence arch.

According to him, the campaign aims to support President John Dramani’s reset agenda.

He indicated that the area is the eye of Ghana, and since the country, most particularly, is a brand, it should be clean.

Mr Nixon described the situation as a shame, saying, ’Tourism is beauty, and beauty is tourism. Will someone travel from their country, get to Ghana and visit the area only to meet filth?

He is asking the president to sack any appointee that has failed to deliver on their duties.

Bela Russian Travel and Tour, led by Mr. Eric Sosu, provided support for the group.

Speaking to journalists, he lamented how filthy the capital had become.

He stated that the country must return to the days of punishing those who disposed of waste indiscriminately.

Mr. Sosu also proposes that the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies award their own contracts.

He added that waste management should not be monopolised because it is ineffective.
