The President’s nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position in the Nadowli/Kaleo District, Mary Mumuni, has been rejected by assembly members.
The nominee was rejected at her confirmation voting process held on Monday, April 28, 2025.
Mary Mumuni, who is the Women’s Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the district, polled 24 “yes” votes against 28 “no” votes.
She could not secure the two-thirds majority needed for approval.
The nominee is the second person to have been rejected in the Upper West Region.
On April 17, 2025, Shaibu Adamu, the president’s nominee for the Wa East District, was also rejected.
