The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has described the ongoing Bawku crisis as a threat to human life, property, and national unity.
In a resolution issued after its mid-year conference, underscored the need for peace, reconciliation, and collective action to restore stability to Bawku.
While commending the ongoing mediation efforts, it stated that dialogue was critical in resolving the long-standing conflict.
“The Ghana Bar Association notes with deep concern the conflict in Bawku and recognises its devastating impact on lives, property, and national cohesion. We commend the urgent and genuine mediation efforts, emphasising the importance of peace, dialogue, and national unity,” the statement read.
The GBA also expressed its support behind the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and other eminent chiefs involved in the ongoing mediation efforts.
It called on the feuding parties in the conflict to cooperate fully with the mediation process and to respect its outcomes.
Meanwhile, the GBA has promised to support any constitutional and legal measures aimed at securing enduring peace in the area.
