A mobile money vendor was shot and killed by unidentified armed robbers.
The vendor was reportedly shot on the evening of Monday, April 28, in Aflao, located in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
He has been identified as Christopher Ahordo, popularly known as Colombo.
The incident occurred at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement Factory in Aflao.
Information available revealed that Colombo was working later than his usual 5:00 p.m. closing time for reasons that remain unclear.
According to eyewitnesses, the vendor was about to close his mobile money shop at 6:15 p.m. when two masked men in long robes approached him, armed with pump-action shotguns.
The armed robbers stole a bag allegedly containing money, and as they fled, one of them shot Colombo in the left side of the chest.
Colombo reportedly died on the scene, and witnesses were unable to help him because the assailants were firing shots recklessly while fleeing into a nearby bush.
Police have launched an investigation into the robbery attack.
