As part of the May Day celebrations and in appreciation of Ghana’s hard-working men and women, Rev. Hon. Kweku Addo, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, honoured an invitation from Kantanka TV to attend the Annual Konkonte Festival. The event, hosted by the visionary Dr Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, is dedicated to promoting Ghana’s rich culinary heritage through the celebration of the beloved traditional dish konkonte.

Rev. Addo, in his remarks, praised the initiative for promoting indigenous cuisine and encouraged Ghanaians to patronise local foods, describing them as both nutritious and culturally significant. He further called for national backing to support Dr Safo Kantanka’s innovation and efforts, which he described as key to enhancing Ghana’s economic self-reliance.
The MP also took the opportunity to highlight ongoing developmental projects in the Ablekuma West constituency, including:
– The dredging of the Otodjor drainage system to prevent flooding,
– Current interventions to fix multiple faulty traffic lights within the municipality.
He assured the people of Ablekuma West that he remains committed to delivering meaningful development, stating, “Ablekuma shall have what it truly deserves. I will not rest until every corner of our constituency sees progress.”

In attendance were members of his team, including the President’s nominated MCE, Hon. Nii George Kpakpo Allottey, who joined in showing support for the event and its mission.
The festival not only celebrated a cultural delicacy but also served as a platform to honour the resilience and contributions of Ghana’s labour force, blending patriotism, innovation, and tradition into a unifying experience.
