Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has officially submitted a petition to the president on behalf of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)-led coalition of political parties.
The petition was received by presidential staff member Stan Dogbe on behalf of Chief of Staff Julia Debrah.
During the presentation of the petition, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin stated that the language of the petition was respectful and decent and expressed their views on the matter involving the removal of the Chief Justice.

He added that it was their optimism that the petition would receive massive support for the Chief Justice to be reinstated to continue with her work.
Responding, Stan Dogbe said he would forward the petition to the Chief of Staff. He described the demonstration as peaceful and commended the organisers for maintaining discipline.
He asserted that President Mahama remains committed to good governance and a stable democracy.

Stan Dogbe stated that President Mahama does not believe in retaliatory politics, as alleged by the minority leader and other organisers of the demonstration.
Earlier, the coalition petitioned the Judicial Service and appealed to staff to stand with the political parties in defending justice and fairness within the judicial arm of government.
He cautioned the Acting Chief Justice and the Acting Judicial Service Secretary, urging them not to become complacent simply because they may not be directly affected by the suspension.

“For the Judiciary to rise, don’t be comfortable because it is Torkornoo. Don’t be comfortable, because you have your own grievances; you also have a party interest because the attack is benefiting you. No, be with that attitude of touch one, touch all. Rather, pray that a fair system is created for all to benefit,” Afenyo-Markin stated.

The Acting Judicial Service Secretary, Dr Cyracus Badinye Bapuuroh, expressed appreciation to demonstrators for their engagement.
He assured them that the petition would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for consideration.
