The 2024 presidential candidate for the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Christian Kwabena Andrews, has described the ‘Save the Judiciary’ demonstration organised few days ago as needless.
He claimed that the political parties that helped the New Patriotic Party (NPP) organise the demonstration are ‘Fa Wo Budget Bra Parties’.
The reverend minister and politician claimed that the NPP was the financier of the demonstration, and that all other parties supported it for selfish reasons and financial gain.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, he disclosed that GUM withdrew from the exercise because it had no genuine motives.
”The demonstration was pointless. The NPP served as both the exercise’s foundation and financier. All other parties were asked to submit budgets in order to participate. They were only required to take part in the demonstration and make unnecessary noise. The political parties took part for financial and selfish reasons. These parties have no desire to see Ghana develop. They created these parties to make money. These parties move from place to place in order to make money.”
He also averred that the president has not breached any constitutional provision in connection with the removal of the Chief Justice.
The Chief Justice is being investigated, and if found guilty of any wrongdoing, will face punishment. However, if she is exonerated, I do not believe the president can remove her at any cost because that would constitute a violation of the law. President Mahama has not breached the law in this matter, rendering the demonstration unnecessary.”
