President John Dramani Mahama’s nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position in Ada East, Kenneth Kabu Kanor, has been rejected.
He could not secure the expected percentage to be approved.
He polled 24 “Yes” votes, representing 63.2%, against 13 “No” votes, representing 34.2%, with one rejected ballot accounting for 2.6%.
Meanwhile, Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has expressed disappointment in how some of the nominees have been rejected.
According to her, efforts would be made to ensure representation in the district.
“I told them, if you delay the confirmation, you delay development and recruitment. A lot of recruitment is already underway, so when you delay the confirmation, perhaps the DCE, once in office, could lobby for some of the assembly members to be employed.
“But if the DCE is not in office, the process will have to go through the district coordinators or other channels. So we are pleading with the assembly members:
“If you think you are part of those shortlisted and are working against the nominee in hopes of being appointed yourself, you are looking outside the box.”
