The Ghana Union of Traders (GUTA) has asked traders to adjust their prices to reflect the gains made by the cedi against major currencies, particularly the dollar.

A statement issued by the President of GUTA, Dr Joseph Obeng, said there was the need for the traders to adjust their prices downwards to bring relief to Ghanaians.

GUTA last week commended the government over the current gains made by the cedi and pledged to reduce the prices of goods in response to overall economic stability, acknowledging the efforts of the government and the Bank of Ghana.

In its latest statement, the President said, “The Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) wishes to appeal to the trading community to adjust prices of goods and services to share the significant gains made by the appreciation of the cedi against the major trading currencies and bring some relief to the consuming public,” the statement read.
