A 53-year-old woman, Grace Mensah, is fighting for her life at St Francis Hospital in Assin Fosu after her fiancée allegedly attacked her.
Information available indicates that there was an altercation with her 25-year-old fiancée.
The suspect identified as Arhinful is currently on the run.
The incident occurred on May 7, 2025, at their residence in Assin Wurakese, following a dispute over goat meat.
According to Priscilla Boakye, the victim’s daughter, Arhinful had brought home goat meat for Grace to cook, but upon returning with friends, he expressed dissatisfaction with the amount of meat in the food, leading to a heated argument.
During the altercation, Arhinful allegedly grabbed Grace’s throat and subjected her to severe beatings, resulting in a leg fracture.
The victim’s daughter claimed that her mother had a pre-existing leg wound that was nearly healed, but the suspect’s actions involved stepping on the affected area.
She further stated that a passerby intervened to prevent the situation from escalating, as Arhinful allegedly would have continued to harm her mother without such intervention.
She also disclosed that Arhinful, who is a known smoker and alcoholic, dropped her mother at her residence and absconded.
Unfortunately, Grace Mensah has been unable to speak since the incident.
She added that this is not the first instance of physical abuse Grace has suffered at the hands of Arhinful, despite their age difference.
She attributed Grace’s reluctance to end the relationship to Arhinful’s perceived ability to satisfy her sexual needs, citing his youthful energy.
The family is now urging the police to apprehend Arhinful and bring him to justice, as Grace’s condition remains critical.
