Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Clement Apaak, has called on Ghanaians to support efforts aimed at creating a society where education is valued and appreciated.
Dr Apaak, who spoke on behalf of the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, at the coronation and outdooring of Torgbui Tsibaglo II and Mama Dewornu II of Srogboe, posited that developing the country was a collective responsibility.
The Builsa South Member of Parliament encouraged parents and guardians to prioritise the attendance of their children and wards so that they can leverage education for a responsible and critical-thinking society.
According to him, some of the “finest brains” from the Volta Region had come from small fishing communities because they believed in education and worked towards it.”
“Parents, guardians, and community leaders also have a role to play,” he said at the durbar. ” Let us invest in our children’s future. Let us create an environment where education is valued above all. Where school attendance is prioritised and where our youth are mentored and supported to climb as high as they can.”
Dr Apaak observed that although there was “a place” for young people in Ghana’s developmental journey, they had to be “determined, disciplined, and prepared to study hard”.
