Seth Osei Kusi reported that the bicycle rider ignored warnings and attempted to navigate through floods in Agboogba, tragically losing his life; his body was recovered on Monday morning.

He emphasised that relocating from these areas is a crucial step in preventing substantial damage to homes, businesses, and most importantly, human life.

Mr Kusi stated that one of the challenges they faced was how some drivers attempted to drive through the floods, endangering the lives of passengers, and that it required rescuers to swim through the floods to rescue those who became trapped.

When asked about assistance for flood victims, he stated that they are assessing the situation and will make recommendations based on the findings. We moved through the various affected areas to assess the extent of the damage and make the necessary recommendations.”

The municipality, he added, will work in collaboration with other assemblies that share boundaries with the Odaw drain and embark on a massive dredging exercise. He said the municipality will soon embark on a tree pruning exercise on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, to prevent any unforeseen incidents during the downpour.
