The Member of Parliament for Builsa South constituency and Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Apaak, has sponsored a mock examination for the 765 candidates from the 25 public junior high schools in the Builsa South district.
The candidates comprise 396 girls and 369 boys who registered for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). This initiative aims to adequately prepare the students for the final BECE exams scheduled for early June 2025.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Madam Musah Anne, accompanied by a team from the district education directorate led by Mr. Akumzeyam Stephen, conducted a monitoring exercise in all the schools.
The visit enabled the DCE to gain firsthand insight into the challenges hindering effective teaching and learning in the district’s schools. Hon. DCE assured teachers and students of Hon. Dr. Apaak’s continued support and commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure access to quality education for all school-going children in the district.
She cautioned the students, particularly the candidates, against the use of illicit substances like tramadol, emphasizing the detrimental effects on their lives.
Mr. Akumzeyam Stephen, the Deputy Director of Education, expressed gratitude to the MP for his consistent support to education in the district, highlighting initiatives such as furniture provision, extra classes, quizzes, school renovations, and distribution of mathematical sets to candidates annually.
He also announced that candidates who excel with distinction in the upcoming exams will receive a scholarship package courtesy of the MP.
