The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has cautioned the public about what it describes as the alarming rise in illegal operations by private electricians within its power distribution network.
A statement issued by the ECG on Monday, May 26, 2025, disclosed that the unauthorized individuals have been found climbing poles, tampering with transformers, and transferring customers between phases.
According to the ECG, these actions are not only illegal but also responsible for outages, voltage fluctuations, and damage to critical infrastructure.
It has therefore advised customers to report any power-related issues directly through its official channels, including its contact center (0302611611), the ECG PowerApp, nearby ECG offices, or social media platforms.
