The Greater Regional Police Command has arrested a suspected trader for the alleged possession of dangerous drugs and an unlicensed firearm.
The suspect identified as Amidu Mohammed, 30, has officially been charged with the possession of quantities of dangerous drugs and an unlicensed firearm at Sabon Zongo, a suburb in Accra.
The police said it arrested the suspect upon intelligence and has been accused of allegedly distributing the dangerous drugs.
A statement issued by the police said the suspect admitted to having some of the drugs in his possession and had already sold a quantity to a buyer in the area.
A search conducted at the suspect’s premises after his arrest led to the retrieval of quantities of various restricted and prescription-only drugs, including Tramico 225, Tramaking 225, and Tafrodol 225, popularly known as red, and Diazepam 10, commonly known as Blue-blue or valium 10. A pump-action gun concealed in a sack was also found at the premises.
