Barnard Antei Bosiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, has been apprehended by officials from the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO).
The grounds for his detention by EOCO remain undisclosed.
He was arrested at the Ghana Police Service headquarters in Accra following an invitation.
Previously, on Monday, May 26, 2025, Chairman Wontumi had responded to a police invitation to aid in ongoing investigations concerning allegations of illegal mining activities.
He was requested to return on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and upon doing so, he was arrested and is currently being held in EOCO custody.
